If you’re looking for excellent food that is healthy, tasty and responsibly sourced, welcome to our grocery shop on the banks of the Saône in Lyon 5.

CAREFULLY selected, locally produced & LOVINGLY handcrafted

Our locally sourced handcrafted products are carefully selected to guarantee authentic flavour, healthy ingredients and beautiful packaging.  Our selection includes herbs and spices, organic fruit and vegetables (many locally grown), cereals, nuts, organic quality teas, locally roasted coffee, hand crafted biscuits, organic meats, cheeses, French olive oil, local jams and spreads, bean to bar organic chocolat, hand made soaps and organic cleaning products (that really work!) and the list goes on...
Each product is lovingly chosen to ensure that we offer our customers healthy and happy choices.  We also endeavour to support local producers and remain loyal to craftspeople who adhere to our core values.

A shopping experience suspended in time...

This organic grocery store is a place where you'll discover unique flavours  and products that bridge the gap between tradition and contemporary cuisine - old and new trends, retro modern design and generally speaking ... a feast for the eyes!
Whenever Madame 'PATATE' discovers something unusual, a new spin on an old ingredient or a delicious snack in gorgeous packaging, she can't wait to share it with her customers.
This is a shop where you will become addicted to novelty, quality, taste, eye candy and sweet treats! Our aim is to help you rediscover what makes us so excited about living in the town that's generally described as "culinary heaven".

THE HISTORY OF PATATE

PATATE opened its doors on the 17th November 2020 - right in the middle of the COVID pandemic. You could say that this was a business baby conceived in confinement! Rachel, whose career in marketing led her to open a branding agency in the early 2000's, needed to find a source of income as business ground to a halt at the beginning of the pandemic and she had often felt frustrated at the lack of good food shops in the area. When people want to eat healthily where can they find a decent choice of products this side of the presque île ? She teamed up with Pierre, a carpenter and furniture designer by trade living in the building next to her office in order to create her vision of a village style store in the heart of the city.

Pierre designed and produced the bespoke fixtures and fixturings and set about learning the ins and outs of buying fresh produce, whilst Rachel imagined the brand image and product range. She wanted all the products to be a feast for the eyes as well as for the taste buds! And for those of you who ask where the name came from - let's just say that it made both of them laugh. PATATE in French (literally 'spud' in English) is the name children call each other when they do something silly.
